Database Information
Our database was founded in 2004. Originally it was
hosted on our website,
www.petsugargliders.com. At that time, it was limited to sugar
gliders coming directly from our home or sugar gliders owned by our
family. Not only did this help us decide if we could successfully
run a sugar glider database, but also to see if there was a need. In
June of 2005, we received many requests to be added to our online
database. At that time, we decided to allow joeys born directly to
sugar gliders already in the database to be entered. Due to our
website restrictions, we couldn't go any further until now. In
January 2005 we opened our new website
www.psgdatabase.com.
Registration is now open to anyone who would like to be added to the
searchable database.
Questions
& Answers
Q. How much does the database cost to use?
A. There is no cost to you at all concerning the database, it
is all free.
Q. Why should I register my sugar glider(s)?
A. This is a wonderful tool for everyone to use. It will help
prevent unintentional inbreeding, and to aide in the planning future
breedings successfully. By registering your sugar gliders, you make
it easier to track sugar gliders, blood lines, and help us get a
better understanding of our sugar gliders genetically.
Q. How do I get a breeder
ID?
A. We create "Breeder ID's" for breeder's whom we already
have personal information on file. Instead of entering in all the
breeders personal information, such as, name, business name,
address, phone, etc., you would only need to enter an ID code. If
you would like a "breeder ID" please contact us at
psgdatabase@gmail.com.
Q. How long does it take for
my sugar gliders pedigree to show in the database?
A. It can take 14-21 days for your sugar glider to show up in
the PSG database. You will receive an email stating that your
application was received. On the homepage, we place the date of last
application entered in the PSG database. If your "application
received" email was before the posted date, your sugar glider should
be in the database. If your "application received" date is after the
posted date, it is likely not entered in the database.
Q. How do I update information for the database?
A. You may mail and fill out the forms provided upon
adoption, or use our online forms. You may request printed forms
and/or packets to be mailed to your home for a small fee to cover
printing and mailing costs.
Q. How does the database work?
A. The PSG database is run by a central program listing each
registered sugar glider pedigree and information. As needed, we
transfer and update this information directly to the website into
the searchable directory. At this time, only 2 people are able to do
this, so it may take 2-3 weeks for the information to be posted.
Q. Can I add or update a
photo to my gliders pedigree?
A. Yes, upon completed registration, you will receive
information on how to add a photo to your sugar gliders pedigree.
Q. I noticed an error in a
pedigree, what can I do?
A. Please notify us of the error immediately, along with any
information you can give us on why you believe the information
false. We strive to keep records accurate, but human error can
occur.
