Recognized Color Variations
There is much debate over what is a true sugar glider color variation as well as how to define each variation. We have attempted to simplify the variations by dividing the most common colors into "families". You are welcome to use the terms within each family to describe your sugar glider(s) color.

*Brown/Red Family- This family includes all the following color variations. In the space marked "Color Description" feel free to use the following terms to clarify what color glider you own. This is the most common misidentified color family. If you are unsure if your sugar gliders has this variation, please use the term "possible" in the "Color Description" Field.
  • Chocolate/Brown (Brown coat, Brown or Black Markings)
  • Buttercream (Brown coat, Cream and/or yellow highlights, Brown to Red Markings)
  • Lion (Honey Coat, Deep Red Markings)
  • Red Cinnamon (Red coat, Red and/or Brown Marking)

*Classic Gray Series- This family includes all the following color variations. In the space marked "Color Description" feel free to use the following terms to clarify what color glider you registering.

  • Blonde/Silver Cream (Light Gray, Light/Narrow Markings)
  • Classic Gray/Standard (Medium Gray, Medium Markings)
  • Black Beauty (Dark Gray, Heavy Markings)

*White Variations- This family includes all the following color variations. These are listed as "recognized variations" as they are easily recognized, and rarely disputed. The following colors must submit a photo for verification. Please e-mail photos to psgdatabase@gmail.com. Please include your sugar gliders name in the subject line.

  • Leucistic (All White, Black Eyes)
  • Platinum (Almost White Body, Light Gray Markings)
  • Mosaics (Pinto, Random White Markings)
  • Champagnes (Light Brown or Wine Coat, Brown or Red Narrow Markings)
  • Calico (Multi color bands through body)
  • Ring Tail (one or more bands on the tail)
  • White Face (No ear bar under ears)
  • White Tip (White tip on and of tail)

*Albino Family- This family includes all the following color variations. In the space marked "Color Description" feel free to use the following terms to clarify what color glider you are registering. Though both are "recognized variations" please use the "Color Description" area to clarify which type of Albino you have.

  • T+ Albino (Creamino)
  • T- Albino (White/Red Eyes)

New Variations- Variations and patterns are always making themselves known. If you see a color of variation not listed here, please contact us.
